When
Dane was
a young
teenager,
he told
his
parents
he
wanted
to learn
the
drums.
His
mother
use to
tell
everyone
of when
he was
around
three
(3)
years of
age, how
he would
go to
the
kitchen
cupboards
and pull
out all
the pots
and
pans,
and beat
on them
with a
wooden
spoon.
He
guessed
she knew
at the
time he
was
destined
to
become a
naturally
gifted
drummer.
Dane
started
playing
for real
about
the time
the
Beatles
were on
the Ed
Sullivan
Show,
like
several
thousand
other
aspiring
musicians.
Playing
locally
in
upstate
New York
with
various
rock and
show
bands,
he soon
developed
a very
good
reputation
and was
sought
out to
play
often,
mostly
with
"December's
Children",
a local
rock
band
during
that
time.
Upon
entering
college
in New
York,
Dane
soon
discovered
Soul,
R&B, and
Funk
sounds
that
were
prevalent
in that
part of
New York
State. A
genuine
love of
that
sound
was
born.
Playing
with
"The
Cross
Town
Bus" he
traveled
the
state of
New York
while
continuing
his
education
at
Morrisville
State
University.
After
graduating,
Dane
attended
State
University
of New
York at
Oswego
to study
music
performance.
He
played
in most
of the
college
musical
organizations,
including
the
concert
band,
along
with
"Solid
State"
which
was the
Jazz Lab
band at
the
university.
He also
founded
a 7 man
horn
band,
"Stefan"
which
toured
upstate
New York
for more
than 2
years.
When
Dane
returned
to his
hometown
of
Liberty,
New York
in 1972
he
married
his
current
wife,
Suzanne,
afterwards
playing
occasionally
for pick
up bands
for the
resort
community
until
forming
"Nite
Lite",
which
was a
lounge/top
40 band.
Moving
to
Florida
in 1978,
Dane
retired
from
music
scene
until
2008,
when in
collaboration
with Ken
Hoye,
decided
to give
it
another
run,
this
time
with
"Kickin
Again".
Music
has been
very
good to
Dane, as
his
mother's
prophesy
comes
full
circle
once
again.
